Performance Management Instrument (PMI)
The Wyoming Performance Management Instrument (PMI) is a process used to recognize the professionalism of the employees of the State of Wyoming.
Several teams of state employees developed the PMI. The initiative improves the state’s employee evaluation system. It is a tool to define performance goals and standards.
The new system provides clear measures based on business-related outcomes, it promotes consistency across agency lines, and provides enhanced data and information for agency management, the Governor’s office and the Wyoming Legislature.
PMI is most importantly about improving communication between supervisors and workers. The performance management tool is flexible and more useful for planning, coaching and review.
